Early mornings are a special time for a photographer.  One thing that is special, aside from the quiet, is the light at that time of day.  It  is something that not every one gets to witness.

February 3, 2010 found me waking unexpectedly at about 4:00am. Realizing that I could not get back to sleep, I made coffee and sat down to take care of some internet work in my front room. Shortly afterwards I noticed the blue light of early dawn coming through the blinds. Rising to take a look I found that it had snowed some time that evening, which was amplifing the blue light of early dawn.

The contrast it created with the red of Nick’s recently installed Valentine’s day display at Tyrells Flowers & Gifts across the street caused me to nearly fall over!

Grabbing a nearby camera, I had the opportunity to stay warm and shoot for a while out the windows, just before the morning’s commuters tracked through the snow on their way to the train station down the street.

Early morning, good coffee and wonderful light; some of the things that make life… well just a little bit better for some.
